Virpazar sits where the Orahovštica and Crmnica rivers meet the lake, which is why the boats depart here and not somewhere prettier. The village is small, walkable in ten minutes, and completely defined by the water.

  • Virpazar *is* the lake. Departure piers are within 300 m of the main square.
  • By car from Podgorica: 35 minutes on the E80/E65, exit signposted Virpazar.
  • By car from Budva or Bar: 40–50 minutes via the Sozina tunnel (€3.50 toll each way).
  • By train: Podgorica–Virpazar takes about 30 minutes and stops at a tiny station a 5-minute walk from the square.

In July and August, yes. Free roadside space along the approach road is usually gone by 10:00, and the walk from the overflow area is 10–15 minutes in full sun. Booking a reserved space near the pier is the simple fix.

Most spend three to five hours: a two-hour boat tour, lunch and a short walk. With a swim stop or a winery visit it becomes a full day.
